One Damn Thing

On Twitter, it went by many names. SnoMG. Snopocalpse. Snowmageddon. Snowlyshit. In real life, it’s a whole lot of heavy white stuff. I measured the accumulation on our porch around 7 AM and it was 14 inches. By noon, in the less sheltered driveway, we had closer to 2 feet. We (and by we I mean mostly Rick) spent the majority of the afternoon clearing the walks and the driveway. He managed to clear of his car and pull it into the driveway so it wouldn’t be buried further by the plow that eventually came down our street sometime before dinner. It is an impressive and imposing amount of snow. I can’t even imagine what it looks like to a 43″ almost five year old.

While Tommy’s excited about the snow, I think it’s slowly beginning to sink in that we had to cancel his birthday party tomorrow. We’d planned to go skating at Schenley, but since I can’t reach anyone there I can only assume that they are closed. I also couldn’t get a hold of the bakery to cancel his cake order – the entire Waterfront was closed all day. Hopefully I can get through to them tomorrow or I’m going to have a 1/2 sheet cake and no one to feed it to.
