Tidi if it’s a boy, Panny if it’s a girl.

Tommy’s names that he’s picked for his stuffed animals have always been creative. They’re usually two syllables that rhyme or repeat, like his monkey NoNo. The names he’s offered up for the baby have been just as creative. We currently refer to the baby as “Ferpy”, short for Earl Ferpin McGecky, a name that Tommy picked up from an episode of Franklin. Since the baby kept its feet tucked up under its bum and umbilical cord between its legs during our 20 week ultrasound, it helps to have a nice, short, genderless name handy. Now in conversation I don’t have to say “it” or “the baby” repeatedly. If you read the Ramona books when you were growing up, you might remember in “Ramona Forever” that they referred to the baby in her mom’s belly as “Algernon” and came up with this rhyme:

Algie went a walkin’
Algie met a bear
The bear was bulgy
The bulge was Algie

The other day over paint, I asked him again for his opinion about names, which he happily provided. He’s a proud big-brother-to-be and I love how he offers me his finished painting to put in the baby’s room.

I took this video with my Olympus E-P1.
