Cat on a Hot Plastic Canon
Awww.
It’s so cute when your kitten takes an interest in the silly, noisy machine on your shelves! It’s super duper cute when she sits on top of that machine and pokes at the white stuff spitting out of it with her wittle paws! It’s nauseatingly cutesy-wootsy when she cocks her wittle fuzzy head and looks at you as if to say “What is this silly, noisy machine that you’ve bought for my amusement, Human? I approve. You may continue living in my house for another day.”
But guess what? It is not cute when said kitten jumps on top of your printer and knocks it off the damn shelves. It is really not cute when the printer lands on your hardwood floors and breaks into four pieces. It is really, really not cute when the USB cord, having been yanked forcibly out the back of the printer, whips into a framed picture you have sitting on your floor (that you meant to hang six months ago) and shatters the glass.
So. Not. Cute.
There are multiple happy endings to this story, though. The kitten was not hurt – she managed to flee the scene quickly. The broken glass stayed contained, so I was able to vacuum it all up without slicing my toe. And the printer, amazingly, pulled through with no permanent damage except for a little plastic pin that held one of the trays on.
Seriously, if anyone out there needs a cat-proof printer recommendation, have I got one for you.
