It’s Always the Same Story
Not sure if any of you caught Martha Wainwright performing on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last week. She sang the Edith Piaf classic “C’est Toujours La Mê me Histoire.” According to her website she recently recorded live an entire album of “rare Edith Piaf songs”. If the album is anything like the performance below I will be running out to buy the album.

Now I only took high school French, but I know this song is about heartbreak. I’d love to see a good translation of the lyrics. The Google translation, I believe, came close but no Gauloises.
Can any native speakers help me out?
