A Mother’s Day to Be Grateful For
This Mother’s Day I walked the 5K for the Race for the Cure with my mom and my son. While I’m mad that I didn’t take more pictures (I love that iPhone of mine, but it’s not so good with the action shots) there are a few things for which I am very grateful that I wanted to mention in this post.
- I am grateful to my neighbor Mary who suggested we walk this year. Our little group of seven helped push the total number of participants up past 33,000.
- I am grateful that the weather broke and we had a beautiful, sunny day for walking.
- I am grateful that no one was crossing the street when some crazed motorist plowed through the barricade on the Boulevard of the Allies and then fled the scene, shattered windshield and all.
- I am grateful I remembered to pack snacks. Lots of snacks.
- I am grateful to my friends and fellow bloggers who supported me in my fund raising. If you didn’t get a chance to give before the race, I’m sure no one would object if you did it now.
- I am grateful that with grassroot support,Susan G. Komen for the Cure continues to raise money and promote advocacy to keep breast cancer and the pursuit for its cure in the front of voters’ and policy makers’ minds.
- I am especially grateful, after seeing so many people walking in memory of loved ones lost to breast cancer that my mother was walking next to me, and my son was walking next to his mother.
